A Clever Read...

Long has the movie "Auntie Mame" been a favorite of mine--but I must confess--I've never read the book. However, one of the many lovely Christmas gifts I received this year was a vintage copy of the book (1955 edition with original dust jacket). The author, Patrick Dennis, calls it, "Auntie Mame, An Irreverent Escapade in Biography" and if you're not familiar, you simply must get it at once, or at the very least rent the movie. Note: There are two versions of the film. Be sure to get the Rosaland Russell version, not Lucile Ball. The book allows for much more in-depth exploration of Mame's escapades than the movie, including the grand opening (and subsequent rapid closing) of her store,"Maison Moderne". Hysterical. Absolutely laugh-out-loud! A guaranteed mid-winter lift, I promise.

Speaking of mid-winter, the Clever Girl winter sale is winding down but there are still a few bargains to be had. Spring sweaters are arriving by the armload, and we just got in the greatest little straw totes. Perfect for you lucky girls soon to head south for a mini break...
